    There is no winter in Gaungxi. It is the sugar season all the year round. In late October of every year, most of the sugarcane is in the harvest time. Before this time the cane sugar factories are closing down for half a year. Now the machines of these cane sugar factories are running again. Chongzuo is a small town of near the border. When you come to Chongzuo during this time, you will get surprised. The surprise is you will find a sea of sugarcane. You can always see mangy farmers harvesting the sugarcane on the fields. All of them are working hard during this time. Though Chongzuo is a small town of China, most of the farmers working hard in it are not Chinese people. Most of them are from Vietnam. They are called the cutting sugarcane workers. Why do they come to China to be the cutting sugarcane workers? That is because their income in China is higher than in their own country. Their income from China is three to four times as more as their income of their own country. Chongzuo is the sugar center of China. More than half of the people of Chongzuo are living on the sugarcane.
